History and development of mobile phones

April 3, 1973 is a very important day in the history and development of mobile phones. It represents the day then its inventor made the first call. Martin Cooper, the inventor of mobile phones started from the idea of creating a potable device for the Police officers, who didn’t have to go to the car if they wanted to contact the station, or just transmit some information. He has created the first mobile phone, which weight almost 2.5pounds, it had a talk time of 35 minutes, a recharge time of 10 hours, it didn’t have a display and you could distinguish it because of its size: 9x5x1.75 inches.

history-and-development-of-mobile-phonesThe first mobile phone was created by Martin Cooper, a former general manager for the systems divisions at Motorola. But this Motorola Dyna-Tac was just a prototype and people weren’t so satisfied by the model. It was too big and it was a true burden to carry it. 10 years had to pass in order to create another mobile phone, Motorola DynaTac 8000X. 1983 represents the year when this mobile phone obtained all the approvals and surpassed all the technological obstacles. Like the first Motorola mobile phone, it was too big and heavy. Known under the name of Zack’s mobile phone, from “Saved by the bell”, this model coasted almost $3500. It was too expensive and people weren’t satisfied by it. It was so big that you needed a big pocket to carry it.

Till the end of ’89, there were 5 models of Dyna -Tac, and at the end of the year Motorola presented a smaller and not so expensive mobile phone. But it wasn’t enough. People rejected this model. In the history and the development of mobile phones, there is the conviction that Nokia were the ones who invented mobile phones. Why is that? Simple. Because Nokia lanced on the mobile phone market the first device which accomplished all the requests. It was not so expensive and it had acceptable dimensions. Everybody accepted this device and people were satisfied by its services.

Once with Cooper’s invention, other mobile phone companies tried to offer to the world new devices. Each of their mobile phones had an important role in the history and development of mobile phones. Every new prototype has encouraged the inventors to do better and to excel in what they were doing. The history of mobile phones is a recent one. In such a short time, the mobile phone has learned to navigate on the Internet, to take photos, to listen music and you can even break up with somebody through a SMS.

This new era can be considered the end of mobile phones, because these high class models are actually miniature computers which also have the function of a mobile phone. These new mobile phones are quite complicated, they have small buttons, all kinds of functions, things that we can’t understand and use sometimes. They are very expensive and not everybody can afford such a mobile phone. The ones, who buy them, do this because they want to be fashionable, or there are some cases, but they are a few, who really need them.
