Gizmodo 4g Iphone

The iPhone 4G has raised the interest of many reviewers that have felt the need to give their opinion about Apple’s latest smartphone. Among these reviewers we can consider Gizmodo, so let’s see what they had to say about the iPhone 4G that has become for many as necessary as oxygen.

In the opinion of these reviewers, the iPhone 4G is significantly different from the previous versions. It comes with many improvements and new features that make it a more desirable smartphone than ever. Among the new features are mentioned the front-facing camera, that’s perfect for video chatting (as you might have discovered until now), the better rear camera that comes with flash, the replacement of the standard SIM with a Micro-SIM, the display that cannot be forgotten because it offers a stunning resolution of 960 x 640 pixels, the extra microphone especially designed for nice cancellation and the improved quality of all buttons.

In terms of improvements, the reviewers mostly relate to the exterior design that now includes a flatter back, an aluminum border that surrounds the entire device, the square look, the slightly higher weight (an increase by 3 grams), but thinner figure (by an astounding 34 percent) and the larger battery that has had an influence on all the internal components (reduced them in size).

When it comes to the hardware Gizmodo’s review mentions the A4 chip that has proven to be just like Apple said: faster and less battery consuming than previously. Inside the chip are included a Cortex A8 that plays the role of main processor, a PowerVR SGX 535 that takes care of the graphics department and communicates with the main processor and two DDR SDRAM chips of 128MB that are also connected to the two processors. How can such a hardware configuration not deliver high performance? What’s even cooler is that the battery life isn’t drained as fast as you would think. Gizmodo’s review stresses that Apple is assuring consumers that overall the 16 percent larger battery is able to offer 40 percent extra talk time. That percent translates into numbers like 7 hours of talk time on a 3G network, 10 hours of videos, 40 hours of music or 10 hours of Wi-Fi browsing. Most impressive is the estimated stand-by time of 300 hours.

The reviewers are also impressed by the iOS 4 and they place the focus on the selective multi-tasking feature and the video calling capabilities of the smartphone. FaceTime is mentioned and also Apple’s desire to make these video calls available not only over Wi-Fi but also over 3G networks.
